ADAB:The Sins of Trash Devlog #1: Concept Phase

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the first devlog for our new game, ADAB: The Sins of Trash! We're thrilled to share our journey with you from the start. This devlog will take you through our initial concept phase, where ideas are born and the foundation for our game is built.

Concept Overview

ADAB: The Sins of Trash is a platformer game set in forests and mountains. Our vision is to create a unique experience that combines puzzle-solving. Here's a brief overview of what we have in mind:

  • Story and Setting: The game is set in the 21st century, in a mountainous region. The story follows a student who becomes trapped in the mountains after violating etiquette. In an attempt to escape from the otherworldly realm, the student must find clues and redeem the mistakes they have made.
  • Gameplay: Players will need to search for trash items and solve puzzles around the mountains. Key gameplay features include:
    • Eksplorasi dan Pemecahan Teka-Teki: Finding trash items and solving puzzles to escape from the otherworldly realm.
    • Penceritaan statis: Players will follow the provided storyline
    • Mekanika kombat sistem: Fighting ghosts that prevent players from escaping with a magical flashlight.
  • Art Style: Our art style is inspired by the natural beauty of Mount Slamet, with a black and white color palette to depict mystery.
  • Sound and Music: We plan to incorporate ambient soundtracks with natural sounds during the nighttime

Inspirations

Every great game begins with inspiration. Here are some key influences driving the development of ADAB: The Sins of Trash:

  • Games: Last Train Home, Next Door, and Corrupt Space
  • Movies/Books: Indonesian Ghost.
  • Personal Experiences: Mountain climbing and camping in the wilderness have given us a better understanding of the beauty and dangers of mountains, which we aim to convey in this game.

Current Progress

Since we're in the concept phase, our main focus is on:

  1. Brainstorming: We are currently exploring various game ideas.
  2. Storyboarding: Outlining the main plot points and character development.
  3. Prototype Development: Starting to build the basic prototype to test gameplay mechanics.
  4. Concept Art: Determining the visual style.

Challenges and Next Steps

No journey is without challenges. Here are some of the things we're currently facing:

  • Refining the Core Concept: Ensuring our core game idea is solid and engaging.
  • Technical Feasibility: Ensuring that our ideas can be technically realized with the resources we have is a key priority for us.
  • Feedback: Collecting early feedback from friends, family, and fellow developers to refine our ideas.

Our next steps include:

  • Completing the game mechanics.
  • Developing a more detailed storyline.
  • Creating a playable prototype to test our ideas in action.
